London’s calling, London’s calling! On Saturday 12th November an almighty event was scheduled to take place, for one night and one night only. Now what could be so spectacular to stop everyone dead in their tracks? Lora Zombie’s first U.K. solo gallery show of course! After months of nail-biting anticipation, we were counting down the hours on Saturday to be reunited with Lora at the uber cool Underdog Gallery in London Bridge for her exhibition ‘True Colors’. With our support for Lora extending back years, it’s a well-known fact that Eye Like are massive fans of her captivating artwork, but we certainly aren’t the only ones who are head over heels with infatuation for the star! We’ve been keeping tabs on her growing popularity over here in the U.K., and unbelievably, an enormous 2.6 thousand were showing their interest on the Facebook page for the event (with the consequent turnout certainly living up to these high expectations). Arriving at Underdog Gallery and giddy with excitement, we were greeted by an astoundingly long winding queue of Lora’s fans, all anxious to meet the super talented artist and to grab a glimpse of her awe-inspiring original paintings. Considering the awful weather experienced that day, this queue well and truly showed the dedication and commitment of the urban artist’s fan base – there’s no exaggeration when we say we’ve stood in smaller lines for concerts before! When the moment came for us to enter the trendy space, our smiles extended from ear to ear as we were given a warm welcome by the Eyes On Walls team and of course Lora herself. As she rushed over to give us a massive hug, we were yet again endeared by her bubbly personality – although we were slightly less star struck than when we saw her back in February!
Although we’re no strangers to Lora’s originals, it’s always incredible to witness the intricate detail and vibrancy of these impactful artworks in the flesh, and being surrounded by so many of her originals in one space we quite literally felt like kids in a sweet shop… Of course with our massive sweet tooth, it will be no surprise for you to hear that we just couldn’t resist the temptation of adding another piece of eye candy to our collection! That’s right, we’re now the proud owners of ‘Ship of Dreams’ a rather stunning and tantalising painting that seduced us from the very moment our eyes first laid upon it. If you’re just as enamoured by this beauty as we are, we’re delighted to reveal that this original will be sailing into the gallery very soon. Unfortunately all good things have to come to an end, and after an unforgettable evening, it was time for the Eye Like crew to say goodbye to our favourite Zombie. With a heavy heart we squeezed our way through the buzzy gallery (it was so packed that we could hardly move!) and admired the artwork one last time. A huge thank you is in order to Eyes On Walls and to Lora Zombie, for all your hard work and for hosting a truly memorable event. We’ve no doubt that you made countless dreams come true!
